Leagues & Socials

The Truro Golf Club has a healthy and vibrant membership, involved at all levels in friendly social golf with a little bit of fierce competition as well.

The objective of “social golf” at the Truro Golf Club is to provide social golf Friday members an opportunity to participate in non-competitive golf with other members and guests who are not regular golfers. During the golf season, various Friday nights are designated “Social Golf Evenings” and on these occasions you will find members and guests enjoying nine holes of “fun” golf followed by dining, draw prizes and sometimes entertainment and dancing. The kitchen stays open later to accommodate snacks and meals after your round.

Theme nights have included Crazy 80’s, Canada Day, Summertime FUN, Fiesta on the Green, Pub Night, Hillbilly Hackin’ and the ever-popular Night Golf. These social evenings have proven to be quite popular and are an ideal opportunity to socialize with other members and friends and enjoy an evening of FUN.

Ladies Day is held on Wednesday mornings June to September. All lady members are welcome to play. New members are encouraged to participate regardless if they are seasoned players or beginners. A signup sheet is posted weekly in the locker room to sign up for either 9 or 18 holes. Playing in Ladies Day gives ladies the opportunity to meet and play with members they may not otherwise get to.
A minimal charge of a toonie is collected when checking into the golf shop before play. This money is used for fun prizes. Ladies record their putts and deposit their scorecards in the ladies day box in the locker room upon completion of their round.
Many of the ladies enjoy a light luncheon and conversation after play. Tee times for ladies day are available by calling the golf shop by Monday morning and are posted in the locker room.

End of season, the ladies enjoy a complimentary luncheon and prizes for everyone.

Super Senior golf was organized in 1987 by Rylie Marshall and the late Jack Ryan to provide an opportunity for retired men to enjoy the fellowship of golf on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. In our 25th year of operation we have 74 members.

The season extends from late May to late September. In addition to approximately 25 rounds of golf, the program includes three 18-hole scrambles, a 36-hole senior championship, four days of Founders Cup play (Scramble; best-ball; alternate shot; individual matches), and a closing 9-hole scramble followed by dinner and presentation of prizes.

Sign-up sheets and draws are posted on a bulletin board in the locker room.

Golfers who miss the registration day may join the program by adding their name to the sign-up sheet. The treasurer will be willing to accept your seasonal registration fee (currently $35.00) when you show up for for the first day of Super Seniors golf.
